Wow, the production on this is fucking surreal. I’ve never heard something produced this well from an amateur one man project before, even the midis sound near perfect in context. It’s a little long, but I’m very impressed that this guy had so many damn ideas as a debut. It also combines so much of what I should hate in the melodic, epic/pagan metal that often sounds so fucking cheesy but does it with enough of a serious tone that I feel like I’m listening to an epic movie soundtrack rather than a dude larping as a viking. I tend to be so dismissive of these kind of albums, and this definitely makes me want to reconsider that.
