Wow holy shit what a release. If not for track 3 dragging on a bit too long and pulling my rating of this down, this would be near a 10/10, probably AOTY. I really do think tracks 1 and 2 are the peak of Polish black metal, at least as far as I’m aware. They transition flawlessly into each other and both are paced perfectly, with perfect riffs and perfect vocals.
This is one of the few times I’ve ever heard dual vocalists work out so god damn hard in the band’s favor, it’s kind of insane. They both have their techniques down and come in exactly when they should.

But the biggest thing I want to compliment this release on is the variety. It’s rare in a traditional black metal record that you have an album with no dull moments. I usually have to judge the album by the general sound rather than by analyzing every second, because if I did that all I would be able to say is that it’s repetitive, which goes against the point of black metal. However Evil Is the Spirit is constantly reinventing itself each track, without at all losing the spirit of the album. That is so god damn hard to do even among amazing albums, this deserve all the credit in the world for being one of the best works from Poland, or really all of eastern Europe ever. Best black metal album I’ve heard so far, I very much can’t wait to hear the rest of the bands discography at some point in the future.
